You are cordially invited to the opening of a new exhibition at the Edward Dwurnik Foundation in Warsaw.
Featuring the works of Rikako Kawauchi and Edward Dwurnik, the exhibition is titled THE HEAD.
Exhibition dates: May 23 – July 31
Opening day: May 23, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Curated by: Pola Dwurnik
Under the honorary patronage of: The Embassy of Japan in Poland

The Head is an exhibition featuring Rikako Kawauchi, an acclaimed, mid-career Japanese artist from Tokyo, and Edward Dwurnik, a classic figure of Polish art from the second half of the 20th century. Despite their differing cultural and historical contexts, their work converges through visual symbols and reflections on human emotion and the body. A particular point of intersection is the motif of the human head, which takes on an intimate, poetic character in Kawauchi’s work, while in Dwurnik’s, it is firmly rooted in socio-political realities. Their painting is characterized by dynamic, expressive brushstrokes and incised lines, whereas in drawing, both utilize pencil with a free, clear line.
The exhibition will officially open on May 23 at 11:00 AM in the presence of Rikako Kawauchi. This will be an opportunity for a brief meeting with the Japanese artist and a conversation about her art.

From 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, we have scheduled drop-in art workshops for children. Every child who visits will be under the artistic guidance of our educator, Kamila Wilnowicz.
The guiding theme for the workshops that day will be the head motif. Inspired by the works of Edward Dwurnik and Rikako Kawauchi, among others, young art enthusiasts will learn to create collages and monotypes.
