It is the first work by Dwurnik acquired for the collection of the Warsaw Museum of Modern Art. The painting “Gathering on the Square” was created in 1983 in the artist’s studio in a block of flats on the Stegny estate in Warsaw. The canvas measures 245 x 410 cm and belongs to the cycle “Large Paintings”. In its theme and style, it is closest to the “Workers” series created at that time.
